About me

This is me: Claire. Married to Other Half (OH) for almost 15 years. Graduate linguist. Self-employed translator of French, German, and Spanish into English. Rapidly approaching that not-to-be-mentioned age with trepidation. Mum to 2 gloriously cheeky boys: my handsome, witty 9-year old birth son and my cute, feisty 5-year old adopted son. Never a dull moment in the Permanently Pickled household (an exaggerated double-entendre, no need to report me to Social Services). Predominantly, my blog aims to be an honest account of the trials, tribulations, and euphoric moments of our post-adoption journey….or in other words: a place for me to vent my frustrations and generally have a good ol’ gripe.

Now then Nic, you’re not confusing ‘love’ with ‘toleration’, are you? ;) Seriously, thank you. That’s a lovely thing to say x

Well done for taking the time to sit down and write so honestly. Really makes a good reading and I can literally picture him doing these things. Just think how far he’s come because of you living and stable family x

    Hi Claire!
This is a fantastic blog, it’s really interesting even for someone like me who has nothing at all to do with adoption. Still, highly informative, jaw-dropping, eye-opening and heart-warming…
I like your writing style. :-)

    Bon courage!

Oh, and this is Patrick, the guy from Germany who used to do some work for you some years ago. Cheers!

Hi Patrick, long time no hear. :) I remember you changed jobs and had a little one, too, right? So great to hear from you. How are you doing? If you ever return to freelancing, get in touch. I mourned your loss, as did a number of my clients. Thank you for taking the time to read and for your lovely comments. Take care x

It’s great to find people like you, a proud mom, a hero, who is – beyond any doubt – a very talented linguist. All the best!

This is good stuff! Thanks for “popping ’round mine”, as you say.

Oh we have so much to chat about! Our daughter (or in my stories referred to as number three) is an adopted child, as I read through your account of “Spain” I recall many trips where insecurity reigned king! Always remember calm rules the day. It will get better I promise! We adopted at three and she is now 8. There are many other issues associated with our daughters genetic make-up that we deal with on a daily basis but as a whole it will continue to improve. :-)

    Betty..

…I only went and forgot the ‘calmness’ rule last week. Back on form. Have so many of your posts to catch up on. Sorry for lack of comments.

Claire where have you gone? I hope all is well and things are improving? Miss your blogging.

It’s so lovely to be missed. Thank you. I do need to update. Just been so busy relaunching my business. I will update you all soon. Hope you’re well x

Oh my goodness! So glad I found your blog. I have a one-year old and I know it’ll be a while before we consider a second – which may or may not be adopted. I can’t wait to hear about your stories, kids, and things to look forward to as my daughter journeys through her childhood :)
